The Project Feature Owner (PFO) has solid technical know-how relating to his feature and carries the responsibility for its overall maturity planning and engineering within an application and / or base project. He “owns” the feature and drives its development to ensure the fulfillment of the agreed upon customer / stakeholder requirements within the committed time frame.

He leads the feature development. Therefore, he plans, defines and orders the realization and the verification scope, derived from the realization, of the feature maturity content by addressing tasks to the involved engineering roles. The PFO does not track discipline internal sub-tasks and derived activities.

The PFO is the first contact of information regarding the status of the feature development activities. He relies on and demands proactive feedback from all involved engineering roles.

• NOTE: The PFO role is generally defined for a Feature Group (e.g. there is a PFO for ABS who “owns” VDL, Base ABS, Low Speed ABS, etc.). See the Feature List for a detailed feature and feature group overview.
